Nathan has been part of the financial planning industry for over 3 years in a variety of different, client-focused roles. To compliment his industry experience, Nathan has recently commenced a Masters of Financial Planning to go with his Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Finance & Accounting.
Nathan primarily works with our existing clients and his main roles include: SMSF administration, implementing financial plans, generating review reports and helping our clients with any queries they may have. He also assists the Financial Advice Team with any ad hoc tasks clients may have.
Outside of Work
You can usually find Nathan on the footy field or out and about on the weekend experiencing all that Queensland has to offer. He’s an avid traveller and a firm believer that you should have a go at everything at least one. In summer, you can find Nathan on the beach with a cold beer or at the rugby league or the cricket. He also doesn’t mind hitting the odd golf ball, but he won’t disclose his handicap!
What’s your favourite thing about being part of the MWS team?
The openness. Being a recent addition to the MWS team, I was welcomed with open arms and immediately made to feel like part of the family. I also like the team cohesion, as everyone is willing to help each other out, both inside and outside the office.
What do you wish people knew about financial planning?
Financial planning is much more than a numbers game and how much money you can make, it’s all about helping you achieve your goals in the future, whether they be personal or fiscal. Patience is the name of the game, much like life, and if you’re prepared to ride the highs, you’ve got to stick out the low.
What's your favourite book, movie and food?
Book: The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
Movie: Die Hard
Food: I’ve made it a point of mine to have a chicken parmy at every pub in Queensland.
If you could give one piece of advice to the Nathan from 10 years ago, what would it be?
Relax! Enjoy the show and be prepared for plans to change on the fly, spontaneity is your friend. Adapt and be patient, if you’re having a bad day just shake it off because amazing things are always around the corner.
What's your weirdest office habit?
Constantly trying to get everyone to do karaoke on a Friday night, so I can rock Britney Spears.
What's the one thing about you that people would be surprised to learn?
Despite my travels around the world, I had never been outside of Queensland or the Northern Territory until I was 24.
If you could have dinner with anyone past or present, who would it be and why?
Kobe Bryant, one of my favourite athletes. I admire his tireless work ethic, the way he used his intellect to pick apart a game of basketball and how he could completely dominate and change a game in a matter of minutes. I would love to learn how he thinks and approaches life.
