A Financial Adviser Who Understands Sydney’s Market

Sydney doesn’t run on the same numbers as the rest of the country. It remains Australia’s most expensive property market, and that single fact shapes almost every financial decision our Sydney clients make; for example, how much of their income goes to a mortgage, how late they can realistically start investing, and how much pressure a dual income really needs to carry.

It’s a familiar shape for a lot of Sydney households: a home worth well over a million dollars, stable jobs in finance, tech or healthcare, and yet very little breathing room left over once the mortgage is paid each month. Closing that gap isn’t usually about earning more. It’s about working out how much genuine capacity is left for super, insurance and investing once housing costs are accounted for, and structuring what’s left so it’s actually working.

Matt Leech has led our Sydney office for over 20 years as an adviser and business owner, supported by Associate Advisers Prashanth Thevar and Emily Atherton. Between them they work with clients across the CBD, the Eastern Suburbs, the Inner West, the North Shore, and Sydney’s growing Western corridor, and the advice reflects it. A financial plan for a client commuting from Parramatta looks different to one for a client in Bondi, and we build accordingly rather than applying a one-size template.

This is also reflected in independent recognition rather than our own claims: My Wealth Solutions holds a 4.9 Google rating across 300+ reviews, and the practice has been recognised with awards including GPS Wealth Practice of the Year and multiple IFA Excellence Awards.

How We Work With Sydney Clients

Most people who reach out to our Sydney office are dealing with one of a handful of situations: a bonus or pay rise they haven't structured properly, a mortgage that's eating more of their income than it should, a super fund they haven't reviewed in years, or a retirement date that's closer than their current plan accounts for. The process from there is consistent.
1
A free Discovery meeting Your first step is a complimentary 90-minute session at our George Street office, or online if that's easier. Your adviser will map your full financial picture, income, debt, super, insurance, goals, and the distance between where you are and where you want to be. You'll leave with a clear view of what we'd recommend and what it would cost. After-hours appointments are available for clients who can't meet during business hours.
2
We build your plan Once you decide to move forward, your adviser and their support team research your options and build a complete financial plan. Every plan is peer-reviewed by a second adviser before it reaches you, a second set of eyes on every recommendation, not a rubber stamp.
3
You meet your full team When your plan is approved, you're introduced to everyone who will look after it: your Financial Adviser, your Implementation Officer, and your Review Officer. They put the plan into action and keep it running from there.
4
We stay with you as Sydney life changes A pay rise, a new job, a growing family, a property purchase, Sydney clients tend to have a lot happening at once. We review your plan at least once a year, and your adviser is available in between whenever something shifts. This ongoing relationship is reflected in our 95% client retention rate.

Frequently Asked Questions

They cover different things, though people often assume one person handles all three. A financial adviser looks at your whole financial position, super, investments, insurance, debt structure and long-term strategy, and provides advice under an Australian Financial Services Licence. An accountant manages your tax returns and compliance obligations. A mortgage broker sources and arranges home loans; at My Wealth Solutions, that’s handled by our sister brand, Borro™, not by your financial adviser directly. Where the three overlap, structuring a loan for tax efficiency, for example, we work alongside your accountant and Borro™ broker.

Yes, it’s actually a common reason Sydney clients come to us. Business owners and self-employed professionals often have income that varies year to year, which makes generic advice built around a steady salary less useful. We build plans that flex with variable income, and where the business itself needs attention, whether that’s structuring, cash flow, or tax planning, we can bring in support from My Wealth Private.

At minimum, once a year, when we formally review your plan against your goals and anything that’s changed. In practice, most clients touch base more often than that. If something significant happens, a new job, a property purchase, a pay change, you contact your adviser and we look at what’s affected. That ongoing access is part of your existing service fee, not a separately billed meeting.

Not really. A lot of our Sydney clients work in finance, tech or healthcare with limited flexibility during business hours, so after-hours appointments and online meetings are standard, not an exception. Your first Discovery session, your annual review, and everything in between can all be done remotely if that suits you better than coming into George Street.
