A Financial Adviser Who Understands How Perth Earns and Lives

Perth’s finances often look different to the rest of the country. A large share of the city’s income is tied to resources, mining, construction and the services around them, which means strong pay, but often pay that comes in uneven blocks: rosters, overtime, contract work and bonuses.

That creates a familiar pattern. A FIFO worker earning well can still reach their mid-thirties with little to show for it beyond a big mortgage and a new ute. A dual-income family in Joondalup or Baldivis may be doing well on paper but has no real plan for super, insurance or the kids’ schooling. A couple in Applecross or Cottesloe may have built solid assets but aren’t sure how to turn them into retirement income.

Closing those gaps is often less about earning more and more about structuring what you already earn so it’s working: getting the tax position right on a high income, putting surplus cash into a deliberate investment strategy, and reviewing whether your insurance is appropriate if you were unable to work.

We advise Perth clients online, from the CBD and inner suburbs like Subiaco and Mount Lawley, through the northern and southern corridors, down to Fremantle, Rockingham and Mandurah.

This is also reflected in independent recognition rather than our own claims: My Wealth Solutions holds a 4.9 Google rating across 300+ reviews, and the practice has been recognised with awards including GPS Wealth Practice of the Year and multiple IFA Excellence Awards.

How We Work With Perth Clients

Most Perth clients come to us with one of a few situations: strong income that isn’t building real wealth, a mortgage that’s taking more than it should, a super fund they haven’t looked at in years, or a retirement date that’s closer than their plan allows for. The process from there is the same, and all of it happens online.
1
Reach Out for a Free Consultation Our advisors will connect with you for a chat before your complimentary 90-minute Discovery meeting. In that meeting, your adviser will uncover your financial situation, your goals, and the gap between now and where you want to be. You’ll also learn about our strategies & fees.
2
Build Your Plan Once you choose to move ahead, your team will do the research, crunch numbers, and compare your options before coming back to you with a full financial plan that we believe will achieve your goals. Your plan will be peer-reviewed by 2 advisors or associates before we present it to you.
3
Meet Your Team Next, we will meet with you again to make sure your plan works for you. If it does, you’ll join us as a client and meet the rest of your team; your Financial Advisor, Implementation Officer and Review Officer will provide personal attention in the form of ongoing support and updates.
4
Stay in Touch We’ll continue to keep your plan up to date and adjust it if your circumstances, goals or plans change. We’ll meet with you at least once a year to review your progress and ensure your plan is still working for you. You can access your financial adviser with financial questions at any time.

Financial Planning Services for Perth Clients

Our advisers cover the full range of financial planning services for Perth clients. We don’t advise on one area in isolation, because your finances don’t work that way.

Every Perth engagement begins with the whole picture. Before we suggest a single change, we look at how your roster, mortgage, super, insurance and goals fit together, so each recommendation supports the others instead of pulling against them.

High earnings in WA don’t automatically become wealth, especially when pay arrives in swings and lump sums. We set up an investment and debt strategy that puts your good months to work automatically, so progress doesn’t depend on how disciplined you feel after a long swing.

For Perth clients who have already built a portfolio, often from years in resources or a profession, we take over the day-to-day oversight. That means rebalancing, reviewing entity structures and keeping the strategy on track while you focus on work and family.

Many Perth workers collect a new super fund with every contract or employer change. We consolidate where it makes sense, check your insurance inside super before anything moves, and use contribution strategies to lift your balance while your income is high.

If you’re weighing up running your own fund, we give you a frank view on whether an SMSF actually suits your balance, time and goals. Where it does, we guide the setup and investment strategy and stay involved as the rules change.

Plenty of WA workers plan to step off site or out of their career earlier than average. We test whether that date is realistic, map how you’ll draw an income from super and investments, and adjust the plan as the finish line gets closer.

Whether you’re eyeing an investment in Perth’s suburbs or a property over east, we look at how it fits your cash flow, borrowing capacity and tax position before you commit. Property becomes one part of your plan rather than the whole plan.

Big overtime years, allowances and bonuses can push Perth earners into higher tax brackets fast. We plan ahead across the financial year so deductions, contributions and investment timing work in your favour, not just at tax time.

When income lands in large, uneven blocks, a standard monthly budget rarely holds. We build a simple cash flow system that smooths your spending, protects your savings during time off, and makes the strong pay cycles count.

Frequently Asked Questions

It can all be done online. Our Perth clients meet their adviser by video for the first Discovery session, their plan presentation and every annual review. Documents are signed electronically, and your adviser is available by phone or email between meetings. Many clients find it easier than travelling to an office, especially around shift work or a FIFO roster.

Yes, it’s one of the most common reasons Perth clients come to us. Roster-based and contract income often comes in large, uneven amounts, which makes generic advice built around a steady salary less useful. We build plans that flex with variable income, cover tax structuring on high earnings, and check your insurance suits your occupation.

They cover different things. A financial adviser looks at your whole financial position, including super, investments, insurance, debt structure and long-term strategy, and provides advice under an Australian Financial Services Licence. An accountant manages your tax returns and compliance. A mortgage broker sources and arranges home loans; at My Wealth Solutions, that’s handled by our sister brand, Borro™. Where the three overlap, we work alongside your accountant and broker.

Our fees vary based on your circumstances, chosen strategies, and the level of support you might need. This is because we are a fee-for-service advisory, so you only pay for the services that are in place and that are actively adding value to your situation.

Your first consultation is on us. To determine the cost of our services for you, your adviser will spend your first meeting getting to know your situation, including your lifestyle needs and your goals. After this first meeting, we provide you with a transparent and detailed quote for your financial plan.

Our fees will usually include an upfront fee for the creation of your financial roadmap (Statement of Advice), as well as our ongoing services fee that covers the cost of implementing and maintaining your plan.

Advice fees can be covered from superannuation, or paid from your cashflow, depending on your circumstances. Some of your advice fees may also be tax-deductible if they are related to tax advice or producing a taxable income.
