Kerry Packer once stated that Mortgage Brokers “are in the business of hopes and dreams.” Ruan Burger, Managing Director of Time Home Loans, wishes he had created this line as it perfectly summarises his business philosophy. Ruan’s goal is to help people achieve ‘The Great Aussie Dream’ – owning your own home.

Experience

Ruan landed on Aussie shores in 2005 and quickly forged a career within the mortgage broking industry, climbing into Australia’s Top 100 Brokers in the first two years of doing business. He has won numerous accolades during his career and has continued to pursue studies relevant to his field, including financial planning, in order to understand and service his client’s unique needs.
Role

Ruan aims to raise the bar with a visionary and adaptable business that delivers an outstanding and personalised mortgage broking service to his clients. He does this by offering support and purpose to those looking to own their dream home.
Outside of Work

After a long working week, Ruan spends quality time with his wife and children to unwind. And if it’s a really good day, his wife allows him out for a game of golf.
What’s your favourite thing about being part of the MWS team?

Definitely the people in the My Wealth Solutions team. It is always exciting to work alongside people who share the same core values and professional discipline as you.
What do you wish people knew about mortgage broking?

That there is more to a home loan than an interest rate.
What's your favourite book, movie and food?

My all time favourite movie is a tough one. I love Armageddon – I go to mush when Aerosmith starts singing – but then I also can’t go past the Shawshank Redemption – the intelligence inspires me.
If you could give one piece of advice to the Ruan from 10 years ago, what would it be?

Try to relax more and enjoy the ride.
What's your weirdest office habit?

Me? I’m perfect!
What's the one thing about you that people would be surprised to learn?

That I love burgers? No really, I am a Burger that LOVES burgers!
If you could have dinner with anyone past or present, who would it be and why?

My twin sister. She passed away before she had a chance to meet my children. She would have been an awesome aunty.
